A world where everyone has a decent place to live
For each home we build, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity tithes to Habitat for Humanity, International.
The goal of Habitat for Humanity, International is to make affordable housing available worldwide. The tithe program was created to give affiliates a way to impact Habitat’s global ministry in addition to impacting the need in their local communities. Tithing gives affiliates an opportunity to share their resources with developing countries throughout the world, and to have both a global and a local home building program. By supporting Habitat’s work outside of the US, our affiliate can make it possible to achieve a world where someday, everyone will have a good place to call home.
Habitat for Humanity and its affiliate organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
We must commit to doing the work in our practices, our programs and our networks that brings equity to our efforts and helps bring justice to the communities in which we work. We must, throughout our ministry, do a better job of connecting issues of racial and social injustice with historic barriers to affordable housing and working to eradicate those barriers.
